The California Highway Patrol and Los Angeles County sheriff’s investigators asked for the public’s help Saturday morning in locating an 81-year-old man with Alzheimer’s disease who was seen in Lancaster earlier this week, then in Northern California Thursday.
John Alan Baker was seen at 10 a.m. Wednesday leaving the 7300 block of Sandpiper Drive in a 2017 Lincoln MKZ with the California license plate 7YFD932, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Baker was last seen Thursday in Piercy in Mendocino County about 200 miles north of San Francisco, the CHP said in a Silver Alert issued Friday for Los Angeles County and four Northern California counties — Humboldt, Lake, Mendocino and Sonoma.
“The purpose of the Silver Alert program is to establish a quick response system designed to issue and coordinate alerts following the unexplained or suspicious disappearance of an elderly person, or a person who is developmentally disabled or cognitively impaired,” according to the CHP’s website.
Baker is white, 6 feet 3 inches tall, 190 pounds with blue eyes, gray hair and is missing a front tooth.
He was wearing a button-up shirt and jeans when he was last seen.
Anyone with information regarding Baker’s whereabouts was urged to call the sheriff’s Missing Persons Unit at 323-890-5500 or 911.
Tips can be reported anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS or lacrimestoppers.org.
