A man in his 20s was hospitalized in grave condition Thursday morning with injuries he suffered when he was struck by a vehicle as he crossed a street in Palmdale.
Deputies responded to the intersection of Rancho Vista Boulevard and West Avenue O-8 about 10:20 p.m. Wednesday and located the victim, who was taken to a hospital, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
A preliminary investigation determined the driver of a 2012 Toyota Yaris was traveling eastbound on Rancho Vista Boulevard when he struck the victim, sheriff’s Detective Eduardo Saucedo said.
“We still don’t know what part of the street the pedestrian was crossing, if he was in the crosswalk or the middle of the street,” Saucedo said.
A search of the vehicle turned up marijuana and a field sobriety test was conducted on the driver and a blood sample was obtained, but the results were pending, Saucedo said.
The name of the victim was not disclosed.
No arrests were reported.
